It is absolutely true that the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, were years of invention and the 90’s was re-engineering but 20th century is all about speed and velocity. The researchers says that in the next 20-25 years the most sought after commodity by in the whole world will not be crude oil but the ICT skilled person. Chirms ICT is in the hands of their youth and they have the fastest growing Gross Domestic Product in the world.

Going by the international telecommunicating union (ITU) report, one of the top priorities of ICT world is discovering new technology in conjunction with existing one. It is only people of ideas and very creative mind that can do this and they are YOUTH.

Software is a program that runs on computer and it is widely used in ICT world. The development of software is very crucial in developing new technologies. More than 85% of software developers are youths. Andy Robin (the robotic expert), who invented Andrind and Google search engine is a youth and is he also sitting down on top of a multimillion dollar company like Bill gate of Microsoft. For any nation to developed, the youth must be allowed to be part of those that formulate policy and ideas.

THE EVILS OF MATERIALISM IN OUR SOCIETY

The desire to get rich quick, greed, insatiable love for materialism, power tussle and social malaise have almost caught up with everybody in the society. That is to say the love for money is the root of all evils. Man and woman, young and old have new dimension of corrupt indulgence on daily basis.

The main causes of corrupt practices are greed and insatiable love for materialism. Everybody wants to own and ride exotic cars of all cost. Every citizen wants to own as many houses as possible. These endless desires lead to different forms of moral decadence in our society. Bribery and corruption have eaten deep into the marrow of our society, who doesn’t the high rate of corruption on offices and public places? The dimension and language attached to it are SETTLEMENT; SEE ME and EGUNJE which are popularly used. The practise is now integrated into the normal way of life and is regarded as FASTNESS. This evil of materialism brought about the fast declining state of our economy and limited opportunity for the poor masses.

However, to alleviate the problem of social hills all hands must be on deck. There most be total overhauling from those at the top i.e. the leader must learn to lead by example. Secondly if we have the fear of God, honesty, hardwork and the love our society we shall succeed. Above all, we must all discipline ourselves to live within our means and not to allow the frenzy to be rich to overwhelm us. – Wakeup (jan.2009)

THE CHARACTER OF A GENTLE MAN

A gentle man is one who never inflicts pains. This description is both noble and as far as it goes, accurate. He is mainly occupied in rumoring the obstacles which hinder the free and unembarrassed action of those about him; and he concurs with their movements rather than takes the initiatives himself. His benefits may be considered as parallel to what are called comforts or conveniences in arrangement of personal nature; like a chair or good fire, which do their part in dispelling cold and fatigues, thought, nature provides both means of rest and animal heat without them.
The true gentle is like a manner carefully avoids whatever may cause a jar or a jolt in the mind of those with whom he associates; all dashing of opinion, or collision of feeling, all restraint, or suspicion, or gloom, or resentment; His great concern being to make everyone at ease and at home. He has had his eyes on all his company; He is tender towards the bashful, gentle towards the distant and merciful towards the absurd; He can recollect to whom he is speaking; He guards against unreasonable allusions; or topics which may irritate, he is seldom prominent in conversation, and never wearisome. He makes light of favors while does them, and seems to be receiving when he is conferring. he never speak of himself except when compelled, never defend himself by a mere retort, he has no ears for slander or gossip, is unwilling to input motives to those who interfere with him , and interprets every thing for the best. He is never mean or little in his dispute. Never fakes unfair advantage, never mistakes personalities or sharp saying for agreement, or insinuates evil which he dare not say out.
From a far-seeing providence, he observes the maxim of the ancient sage, that we should ever conduct ourselves towards our enemy as if he were one day to be our friend. He has too much good sense to be affronted by insult, he is too well employed to remember injuries and too tolerance to bear malice.
He is patient for bearing and resigned, on philosophical principles, he submits to pain, because it is inevitable, to be bereavement, because it is irreparable, and to date, because it is his destroy. If he engaged in controversy of any kind, his disciplined intellect preserves him from the blundering discourtesy of better, perhaps, but less educated minds who, like blunt weapons, tear and hack instead of cutting clean, mistake the point in argument, waste their-strength on trifles, misconceive their adversary and leave the question more involved than they can find it.
He may be right or wrong in his opinion, but he is too cear-headed to be unjust; he is as simple as he is for able, and as brief as he is decisive. No where shall be find greater can dour, consideration, indulgence, he throws himself into the minds of his opponents, He accounts for their mistakes. He knows the weakness of human reason as well as its strength, its province and its limit.
